The Game Changer
Game-changer (noun): a person or thing that dramatically changes the course, strategy, character, etc. of something.
Example(s):
1. God.
God created the game. Everything must go, be approved, and selected through Him. Our greatest success is by how we converse with Him.
2. Lucifer.
Lucifer shows us how good can turn bad. His influence as a game-changer caused 1/3 of angels to miss out on their blessings with God. Through him we find jealousy, arrogance, and pride. He is the prime example that we must be cautious of who we surround ourselves with as we can be easily guilty by association. He shows us how valuable our relationship with God truly is.
3. Noah.
Noah teaches us the importance of being obedient to God, even if what God asks of us does not make sense. Eventually, it will make sense but we must follow instructions without deviating. If Noah hadn’t been obedient to God and followed instructions, every living thing would have been destroyed.
4. Jacob.
Jacob teaches us that in order to be a great game-changer, we must wrestle with the issues – our past and bad habits – that serve as stumbling blocks to our greatness. Key tools to assist us include prayer and fasting.
5. Moses.
Moses laid out the laws for us to follow in Exodus through Deuteronomy. He encourages us to be holy, righteous, and obedient.
6. Samuel.
Samuel teaches us to be quick to respond. As soon as he heard God call him, Samuel was quick to jump up and say, “Here I am.”
7. Elijah.
Elijah teaches us that the power and anointing of God in game-changers does NOT come without sacrifice, discipline, and servant-hood. We must sacrifice our time and will for His time and will. Elijah also teaches us in 1 Kings 17 that, through God, we have the power to speak things into existence.
8. David.
David teaches us the significance in our praise and worship. Although sometimes it may seem like we are all the way in the back of the line, through our praise and worship, God uses His power and authority to move us from the back to the very front. What we go through does not symbolize where we’re going and we don’t always necessarily need to be in the front to change the game.
9. Jesus.
Like God, Jesus shows us what higher power will bring fourth. Jesus is the prime example of a servant, prayer, and faster. Through his life, we are able to see that we can live a life full of good deeds but still be hated for it. People will use and abuse you, but continue anyway. Through Jesus we see that we must be willing to give God our all even when our flesh does not want to.
10. Paul.
Paul teaches us to practice what we preach. As believers we are called to live holy and righteous 24/7. Although we may fail time and time again, through God’s grace and the Holy Spirit – God dwelling inside us – we are able to strive to be better than what we were yesterday. The Holy Spirit is our secret weapon. With it, we are able to show and share the goodness of God with someone else, and encourage them to get healed, delivered, set free, and saved.
11. Believers.
With the top ten examples given above, God has given us the power to become game-changers. Just like each individual above, God created us with our own individual stories, talents, and gifts. We must walk in alignment with our divine assignment and through Romans 12:1-13, we are given specific guidelines and instructions to seek it through. Romans 12:1-13 New International Version (NIV) reads as follows:
A Living Sacrifice
12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Humble Service in the Body of Christ
3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. 4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
Love in Action
9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
